Jazz has emerged as a mix of several musical cultures and national traditions. Characteristic features of the musical language of jazz were originally improvisation and polyrhythm.
Jazz and literature often feed each other. Many works of fiction are associated with jazz. First of all, the names of E. Hemingway, H. Kortasar, F. S. Fitzgerald, V. Aksenov and others are recalled. And many jazz compositions have literary allusions.
The ARS Nova Jazz ensemble (ArsNovaJazz) under the direction of the jazz pianist and composer Pyotr Kornev has been successfully performing for many years both in St. Petersburg and in Europe. The ensemble unites talented musicians of different generations, laureates of domestic and foreign jazz festivals.
